The Playwright’s development encompasses a four-story mixed-use building, including an office space and eight residential units. Shedding light on this transformation, a recent Instagram post has disclosed that the luxury apartments above the bar and restaurant will be available for rent in March 2024.
During its previous operation, The Playwright offered a diverse menu featuring brunch and dinner options such as nachos, burgers, and burritos. The updated space promises a fresh menu, which is still in the process of being finalized. However, many of the specialty cocktails that patrons fondly remember from the previous era of The Playwright will still have a place on the revamped menu.
The Playwright is proudly owned by Broadway Hospitality Group, a dynamic entity responsible for a myriad of local favorites such as Tavern in the Square, The Broadway, and The Mercantile. Victoria Tuttle, the Public Relations Assistant for the group, has conveyed that construction is currently in progress.
The target is a spring 2024 reopening, and more details about the exciting changes are expected to be revealed soon. South Boston awaits the return of The Playwright, anticipating a redefined experience that blends the old familiar charm with exciting new elements.
