Founded in 2008 by Laura O’Neill and brothers Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen, the brand originated as a yellow truck serving ice cream on the streets of New York City. Since then, Van Leeuwen’s has expanded into a nationwide enterprise, boasting over fifty locations (and counting) across the United States. The upcoming Massachusetts stores will mark the brand’s debut in the state.
Celebrated for its exquisite flavors and commitment to using simple, high-quality ingredients sourced from small producers both locally and around the world, Van Leeuwen’s offerings have garnered widespread acclaim. Fan-favorite flavors include Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake, Earl Grey Tea, and Sicilian Pistachio.
Eschewing stabilizers and “natural flavors,” Van Leeuwen’s relies on egg yolks to achieve its signature creamy texture. In addition to its dairy delights, the brand offers an impressive selection of vegan flavors, such as Chocolate Cookie Dough Honeycomb, Churros & Fudge, and Strawberry Shortcake.
More details should be released soon, so stay tuned for updates on the grand opening dates of the forthcoming Seaport and Cambridge Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream shops.
