Though the reason for Bar à vin 1855’s closure remains unclear, what we do know is that Krista Kranyak of Corbett Restaurant Group has sold the space at 259 Newbury St to local chef Leigh Whittaker, who intends to launch Le Mari Restaurant in its place.

Whittaker did not disclose details about Le Mari with What Now Boston, leaving information about the forthcoming eatery sparse. However, given Whittaker’s background as sous chef at Fox & The Knife and as a chef instructor at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, diners can anticipate elevated, expertly executed dishes.

Moreover, the restaurant’s name—which translates to “the husband” in French—hints at a menu centered around French fare.

According to Le Mari Restaurant’s Instagram page, the establishment is preparing for a spring 2024 debut. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
