According to an Instagram post from Jadu, the establishment has found the perfect space at 767 Centre St in Jamaica Plain. This location, which has been home to Espresso Yourself since 2017, will undergo renovations before reopening under Jadu’s banner.
A Jamaica Plain resident herself, owner Maya Mukhopadhaya is eager to usher in this new chapter for Jadu, which translates to ‘magic’ in Hindi:
“We will be closing the shop down for renovations soonish (exact date TBD), and then re-opening as Jadu — a coffee shop by day, and (liquor license pending) wine bar by night,” the announcement states. “We’re so psyched to create a neighborhood spot for folks to be in community with one another – whether over a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, an herbal tea, or a mocktail.”
Meanwhile, Gabrielle Malina, the other half of Jadu, will continue to throw parties, dinners, and tastings around Boston with First Crush, a new wine-centric pop-up. Their inaugural event is scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at Counter Culture Coffee. Malina plans to showcase a selection of Basque wines and ciders, complete with the fun tradition of passing the porrón.
