Senteza “Sentie” Kironde will soon debut Sentie’s Kitchen at 21 Turnpike Rd in Southborough’s Brickyard Square.
This venture marks a significant milestone for the Ugandan chef, who, after fifteen years in Investment Banking and Finance at JPMorgan Chase & Co., has decided to resign and pursue his culinary passion full-time.
In a Facebook post announcing the news, Chef Sentie shared the details of his decision:
I’ve been working on Sentie’s Kitchen as a side hustle for about 10 years, but now is the moment to fully commit and turn my dream into reality. I am excited to announce that I will be opening a brick-and-mortar location for Sentie’s Kitchen and betting on myself 100%!
Inspired by his family’s rich history in the industry, Chef Sentie’s culinary journey began at the age of nine. Known for his mastery of wood-smoked barbecue, he prides himself on using locally sourced meats infused with “a symphony of exotic Ugandan herbs and spices.”
Chef Sentie told What Now Boston that the new eatery will offer a menu similar to its popular pop-up and catering offerings. Patrons can anticipate rice bowls featuring East African pilau rice, Nigerian jollof rice, or Jamaican rice and peas, alongside a variety of proteins such as smoked ribs, jerk chicken, tandoori chicken, and steak tips.
Complementing these main dishes will be sides like coleslaw, kachumbari, yuca fries, tostones, curried potatoes, eggplant, and cabbage.
With final approvals recently secured from the town and fire department, Chef Sentie hopes to open Sentie’s Kitchen in the coming weeks. For the latest updates, be sure to follow the eatery on Facebook.
