According to a report from Cambridge Day, Bakey Babka is making its Cambridge debut at 238 Main St in Kendall Square’s Kendall Building. The bakery currently operates in Brookline, Boston, and Newton Centre.

Founded by bakers Uri Scheft and Or Ohana, Bakey Babka is renowned for its extensive selection of “ridiculously fresh” sweet and savory Jewish treats.

Offerings include various flavors of babkas, cookies, cakes, burekas, cheese sticks, challah loaves, and sourdough bread. The upcoming Kendall Square location will feature these same beloved items, along with a heightened focus on high-quality coffee.

Graham Theodore, Bakey’s chief executive, told Cambridge Day that the decision to expand into Kendall Square was driven by the area’s growing residential population and its proximity to MIT.

While future plans are not finalized, Theodore hinted at potential expansions into Harvard, Porter, and Davis Squares.

Bakey Babka hopes to break ground at the new site by the end of July, with construction slated to take about 12 weeks. The new location is projected to open in October or November of 2024.
