Nan Xiang Express will debut at 1750 Washington St in the South End, taking over the former Bar Lyon space. The soft launch is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. and will feature a line dancing event, with a grand opening to follow on August 5.
Franchisee So Lim Ting told What Now Boston that plans for a third location are already underway, though specifics regarding the site are yet to be determined.
Nan Xiang Express is the fast-casual sibling of the Michelin-recommended Shanghainese restaurant Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao located in Flushing, Queens. Known for its flavorful xiao long bao (soup dumplings), Nan Xiang Express offers a menu of takeout-friendly dishes inspired by the full-service restaurant.
The menu includes a variety of soup dumplings, fried udon noodles, noodle soups, and appetizers such as cucumber salad and vegetable spring rolls. Ting noted that, alongside these favorites, the South End location will introduce some exciting new dishes.
Currently, Nan Xiang Express operates six locations in New York and one in Boston’s Chinatown, with six more in development.
Be sure to attend Nan Xiang Express’s South End launch event on July 29, and stay tuned for updates on the third Boston location.
