According to multiple social media updates from the eatery, Mexa will soon open at 230 Rantoul St, taking over the former Nachos Tacos space.

Owner Alex Barrientos, who also operates La Victoria Taqueria—a trio of Mexican street food spots in Downtown Beverly, Arlington Center, and Belmont Center—confirmed this news with What Now Boston.

After months of negotiations, Barrientos finalized the deal on the Rantoul St space in April of 2022, according to a patch.com report.

The menu at Mexa will feature authentic Mexican dishes such as chiles rellenos de camarón, aguachile, and tacos, while the cocktail selection will include margaritas, carajillos, and mole negronis. Local craft and classic Mexican beers will also be available.

Barrientos mentioned that while there is no fixed opening date yet, he’s hoping to launch the new eatery in the coming weeks.

Currently, Mexa is hiring for various positions, including bartenders, a sous chef, and front-of-house staff. For the latest updates, follow the eatery on Facebook and Instagram.
