Chopped champion and Ciao House star Saba Wahid Duffy will soon open Kush by Saba at 5 Sanborn Ct in Somerville’s Union Square, transitioning her popular food truck into a permanent restaurant.
Since its debut in 2022, the Kush by Saba food truck has won acclaim for its modern, maverick take on Mediterranean cuisine, featuring standout dishes like the Spicy Mac and Cheese with Harissa Brown Sugar Braised Beef and Curried Chickpea Falafel Waffles.
In an interview with Boston Magazine, Duffy said that the forthcoming halal restaurant will showcase customer favorites from the truck, along with more elevated dishes like Beet Hummus with Za’atar Pita Chips and Sweet Potato and Feta Croquettes with Smoked Paprika Aioli. Guests can also expect a variety of dips and spreads, as well as a light dessert menu.
The space—formerly occupied by Wade BBQ and Littleburg—will be transformed from a simple takeout garage into a full-service dining room, offering counter service during the day and table service in the evening.
Kush by Saba is slated to open in early 2025. A fundraising campaign will run through the end of August to support the buildout, which Duffy plans to begin in September and complete within a few months. While the restaurant may open for takeout sooner—pending final permits—the truck will be retiring from the road, according to Boston Magazine.
