According to its Facebook page, Nonantum Press Room will soon open at 191 Adams St. This street has been a beloved foodie hub in Newton for over a century, with flourishing spots like Olivia’s Bistro, Flourhouse Bakery & Sandwiches, and The Icing on The Cake.
The menu at Nonantum Press Room will focus on neighborhood favorites, featuring “paninis, elevated sandwiches, soulful soups, and crisp salads with an Italian flair.”
Owner Jim Donovan is a well-known chef in the Nonantum neighborhood, celebrated for his passion and skill in the kitchen. His past restaurants, including Earl’s in Dover, NH, which boasted a 4.9 Google rating, have earned acclaim from Phantom Gourmet, Wicked Bites, and The Boston Globe.
Additionally, Donovan has been recognized for revitalizing dining experiences in the neighborhood, including introducing a new menu to local sports bar Buff’s Pub. He hopes to bring this expertise to Nonantum Press Room, aiming to deliver top-quality, flavorful food while prioritizing exceptional customer service.
A recent Instagram post from the eatery highlights Donovan’s dedication to tradition and community:
We embrace the history and ethnic influences in Nonantum and use the best ingredients available, local when possible, to bring you tasty interesting creations with “gusto familiare” (familiar flavors). Our ownership and chef have been a part of “the lake” family for decades, our commitment to the Nonantum community and organizations that support the community endure, you can count on us to uphold and pitch in. Salute…
Construction is currently underway at the Adams St space, with Nonantum Press Room slated to start serving soups, salads, and sandwiches in October 2024.
