Boon Choo will soon open at 366 S Main St in the Sharon Heights Shopping Plaza.

This new venture is led by best friends and Sharon residents Tammy Lu and Chef Renu Bissanti, former owners of Yai’s Kitchen, a recently closed, Norton-based restaurant and food truck. The pair announced the news on Yai’s website, stating:

We will be opening a new location in Heights Plaza in Sharon this fall. Check out our website, Instagram and Facebook for updates. The new restaurant will call “Boon Choo” Thai Authentic food! We have truly loved being a part of your community and thank you for your unwavering during the past 2 years.

Lu told What Now Boston that they sold Yai’s to establish this new eatery closer to home. About 95% of the menu will feature classic favorites from the Norton eatery, such as pad Thai and drunken noodles, along with some new dishes like khao soi, a Northern Thai coconut curry noodle soup created by Chef Bissanti.

“She’s the best in Boston,” said Lu. “Well, she’s really good cause she’s from Northern Thailand. She cooks really good Northern food.”

While Yai’s Kitchen focused primarily on takeout, Boon Choo will operate as a full-service, upscale restaurant with a full liquor license, in addition to offering takeout and catering options.

In a recent social media post, Lu and Bissanti shared a video update of their new, under-construction space, captioned, “It’s really starting to feel like home 🧡 Boon Choo!”

Lu said that they’re hoping to welcome guests to Boon Choo before the end of October 2024.
